For AI assistants
Let your AI assistant share files and tell you when they are read.
One connection. Your assistant makes FileSeen links for any email or chat, and answers “did they open it?” from real data.
Setup
Connect in two minutes
Works with any app that supports MCP.
-
Step 1
Create an API key
In Dashboard → Settings → API keys. A verified email is needed.
-
Step 2
Connect your assistant
Use
https://mcp.fileseen.com/<your key>, or send the key as a Bearer header. -
Step 3
Ask in plain words
“Send this as a FileSeen link”, “Did they open it?”
Pick your assistant
- ChatGPT: ChatGPT writes the email. FileSeen gives it a link for the file, and later tells it who opened it.
- Claude: Claude makes the link, writes the email, and answers “did they open it?” from real data.
- Gemini: Gemini CLI makes the link and reads back who opened it, page by page.
- Grok: Give Grok the FileSeen tools and it can share files and report who read them.
- Cursor and other MCP apps: use the same URL, or run
npx -y fileseen-mcplocally.
What your assistant can do
- create_tracked_link: Turn a file into a FileSeen link to paste into any email or chat.
- create_tracked_link_from_text: Turn a document the AI wrote (a proposal, a quote) into a PDF link.
- check_if_seen: Was it opened? How many times, when, and the time on each page.
- list_my_links: Your links with opens and reading time, for any period.
- recent_activity: Every recent visit across your links, newest first.
- get_link_analytics: Everything about one link: readers, pages, drop-off and a daily timeline.
- compare_links: Which of your documents got the most attention.
Things to ask
- “Make a FileSeen link for proposal.pdf and write a short email to Ana with it.”
- “Did Ana open the proposal? Which pages did she read?”
- “Which of my documents were opened this week?”
- “Compare my three pitch decks. Which one got read the most?”

FAQ
Questions about FileSeen for AI assistants
Does the reader need an account?
No. The link opens in any browser, on a phone or a computer.
Is my API key safe?
Treat it like a password. Anyone with the key, or with a connector URL that contains it, can make links on your account. Revoke it any time in Dashboard → Settings → API keys.
Which files work?
PDF, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, images and more, up to 95 MB. Web pages and ZIP files are not accepted.
Will the assistant say a file was opened when it was not?
It is told to report only what FileSeen returns. Checking a link never counts as an open.
