Online clipboard
Online clipboard: paste text here, open it on any device
Paste a note on one device, get a short code, and type the code on the other. Phone to laptop, laptop to phone, or to a friend. No sign-up, and the note deletes itself after 24 hours.
Open a note
Notes are plain text and are deleted after 24 hours. Links in a note are shown as text, never as links. See something harmful? Email the code to hello@fileseen.com.
How the online clipboard works
Copy on one device, paste on another
Three steps, and nothing to install on either device.
-
Step 1
Paste and save
Paste your text above and press Save. You get a 6-character code, a link and a QR code.
-
Step 2
Open it on the other device
Type the code on this page, open the link, or scan the QR code with the phone camera.
-
Step 3
It deletes itself
Every note is deleted after 24 hours. Tick "delete after it is opened once" for something private.
What people use an online clipboard for
- Phone to computer: a long message, an address or a code from your phone, without emailing it to yourself.
- Computer to phone: a Wi-Fi password, a booking number or a list you need when you leave.
- To a friend or classmate: notes, a recipe or instructions, read out as a short code.
- A shared or work computer: move text without signing in to your email or chat there.
Why the code is safe to read out
Codes use only letters and numbers that cannot be mixed up: there is no 0 or o, and no 1, l or i. A code has about 880 million combinations, and each connection can try only a few codes a minute, so nobody can guess their way into other people's notes.
For anything sensitive, tick delete after it is opened once: the note is gone the moment it is read, so even a code that is seen later opens nothing. For passwords you use often, a password manager is still the better place.
Built so it cannot be used for spam
- Plain text only. Anything that looks like a link is shown as text, so a note can never send someone to another site with one tap.
- Gone after 24 hours. No note stays online, and none can be found through a search engine.
- Limits per connection. Up to 20,000 characters per note, and a cap on how many notes one connection can make in an hour and in a day.
- Checked for scams. Notes that look like payment scams are refused.
Need to send a file instead of text? Share it as a link with PDF to link, or make a QR code for an image. For a document you want to know was read, see secure file sharing.
FAQ
Online clipboard questions
What is an online clipboard?
A page where you paste text on one device and open it on another, like the copy and paste clipboard on your computer, but across devices. Here you get a 6-character code to type on the other device.
How do I send text from my phone to my PC?
Open this page on the phone, paste the text and press Save. On the PC, open this page and type the 6-character code. Or open the link the phone shows.
Do I need an account?
No. Saving and opening notes needs no sign-up, no app and no email address.
How long does a note stay online?
24 hours. If you tick delete after it is opened once, it is deleted the first time someone opens it, even if that is a minute later.
Can I share text with a QR code?
Yes. After you save, scan the QR code next to the code with the other phone's camera and the note opens.
Is there a limit?
20,000 characters per note, about 3,000 words. One connection can save up to 20 notes an hour.
Can I share files or images too?
This clipboard is for text. For a file, use the uploader on the FileSeen home page; for a photo, the image to QR code page.
